Time for a New Drink!

Mojito

2-3oz. Light rum

1oz. Lime juice (one lime, essentially)

2 tsp. Sugar

2-4 Mint sprigs

Soda water

Muddle the mint and sugar with a splash of soda water in bottom of a mixing glass until sugar dissolves and you can smell the mint. Squeeze the lime into the glass, add rum, and shake with ice. Strain over cracked ice in a highball glass. Top with soda water, garnish with mint sprig and serve.

I've also done this by placing the mint leaves in the bottom of the glass you'll serve it in and muddling it with the sugar there. Then the mint stays in the drink. Of course, this depends on the type of glass you use.

Boys' Night Out

Clancy here. Nemy's busy so I'm to write about the poker game I had going the other night. Not really sure I want that in writing, to be honest. Ahres was cracking me the hell up, but you know, (clears throat) girls were involved. Thankfully, they swarmed around him and Lumiel. They don't dare touch me. They know my woman well. LOL And I kept them away from Caleb, too, because Nadira's a hunter/slayer and I really don't want to see any of my girls... er... Scott's girls dead.

I'm not much of a writer like Nemy is, so this'll probably be brief.

I was talking to Caleb (you know, the werewolf) and he was having some trouble with Nadira. I think Jinx made a crack about us talking like women. Whatever. Actually, Jinx made several cracks that night. That woman has got a mouth on her.

Anyway, so I mentioned at some point to Caleb that maybe we could get a poker game going sometime. He liked the idea. Then Ahres showed up and was looking for some fun, so I mentioned the poker game again. He was all for it, but only if there were girls there or something. Caleb wasn't too cool with that, but showed up after Nadira shut him out... again. Poor bastard.

Now, I'm all about showing the brother a good time. I mean, he's a vampire after all, and a fucking big one at that. But I won't partake in the extracurricular shit because of Nemy. The girls loved him, especially when he took off his shirt. LOL They really seemed to like Lumiel, too.

So, a human, a vampire, a werewolf, and the devil sit down to play poker...

Mahlon was there as well, but he just wanted to watch the first round. The game has recently piqued his curiosity. Of course, all we got to play was one round because Ahres got called into work and Caleb got a call from Nadira. I think they've settled things between them now. Thank God.

But damn, that one round was fucking hilarious...

And I'm getting nagged about why this isn't up yet. Seriously, go check out the tweets because there is just too much going on between too many people to write this all down in such limited time. I'll go through them and try to favorite them all right now, but that Jinx, man, she tweets a helluva lot.

Mix the Bailey's and the whiskey in a shot glass, drop (or dump) it in the Guinness and chug (seriously, because the Bailey's will curdle once it hits your tongue!)

The Kiss

Backtrack a little... Did I tell you about that kiss? *clears throat* Allow me to give the details.

It all started with a phone call... and a bet, of course:

“I tweed chew to some bin,” he says.

“What?” I ask, because that phrase just doesn’t make any sense.

“I NEED YOU TO COME IN,” he yells into my ear and I quickly pull the phone away.

Then I bring it to my lips and shout back. “ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I’VE HAD TO DRINK?” The people around me laugh and I’m just so overjoyed to be their entertainment. “Tell my boss I’m too fucked up to work,” I say and hold out the phone.

“SHE’S TOO FUCKED UP TO WORK!” they all shout in unison. Seriously, I could’ve done that.

“DID YOU HEAR THAT? IT’S NOT GONNA HAPPEN,” I say. “YOU KNEW THIS WAS GIRLS’ NIGHT OUT!”

“WOULD YOU STOP YELLING? I CAN HEAR YOU JUST FINE,” he shouts in a huff.

“Sorry, I’ve had quite a few shots of multiple things,” I reply. “And some beers, I think.”

“ARE YOU OKAY?” he asks.

“I’m fine,” I say. “The girls got a limo. No driving for Nemy tonight. Oh wait, I don’t have a car anymore.” The people near me find that funny. “And several people are laughing at me now. Am I being funny?”

“FUNNY-LOOKING, NEMY-GIRL,” he replies.

“Smartass,” I say. “I must be something because several guys seem to want to fuck me tonight.”

“DON’T PUT DOWN YOUR DRINK!” he shouts.

“Thank you, Captain Obvious!” Laughter once more ensues from the tables surrounding me.

“DO I NEED TO COME RESCUE YOU?” he asks. “GO SOMEPLACE QUIETER SO I DON’T HAVE TO YELL.”

I look around and walk over to the gate. “I’m gonna step out for a bit,” I say to the bouncer, and he nods and laughs at me. There’s no cover, so it really doesn’t matter what I do as long as I don’t bring alcohol with me. “Okay, I’m away from loud-ass music now. What’s up?”

“Seriously, Nemy-girl, do I need to come down there?” he asks, his tone much softer now.

“No, I can handle it,” I say. I step next to the street and lose my footing on the curb that seemed much farther away, and I almost go down. “Whoa! Fuck!”

I hear a muffled laugh. “What’s happening?” he asks.

“I’m fine,” I reply. “I almost fell into the street.”

“I’m coming down there,” he states.

“No, you’re not,” I say. “I don’t need a babysitter!” I mean, hell, my words aren’t even slurring yet.

“Sounds to me like you do,” he says. “What with guys wanting to fuck you and all.”

I sigh heavily. “Why are you calling me? You can’t need someone at—” I look at my phone to check the time “—midnight? Are you serious? You’re closing in two hours!” By this time, one of my many suitors has found me and is standing near the entrance. “Shit,” I say in a hushed tone.

“What?” he asks.

“Guy who wants to fuck me found me again,” I tell him, cupping my hand over the phone and my mouth.

“Probably has something to do with that getup you’re wearing,” he says. Tonight, it’s another backless shirt showing off my Fuck-me Art.

It takes me a minute to comprehend that remark, but I turn in a circle, shock written all over my face once I realize what he said. I don’t see him. It’s not like the man is hard to miss. I bring the phone back up, and say, “Where are you?”

“Behind you,” he replies.

I turn around and see him walking up from the bar next-door. “Mother fucker!’ I say into the phone. He laughs, closes his phone, and slips it into his pocket. “How’d you know I was here?” I ask into the phone.

He steps up to me, takes my phone and pushes it down into my pocket. “I didn’t until I saw you through the window.” I’m slack-jawed as I stare at him. His fingers touch beneath my chin and lift. “Close your mouth, Nemy-girl.”

My mouth shuts, and as soon as I have my faculties about me, I reach up and hit him on the arm. “Mother fucker!”

His deliciously evil grin spreads across his face and he leans over. “You already said that.”

“Bastard,” I say, and he laughs.

He takes my arm and places it in his. “Come on, do a shot with me,” he says, and leads me back inside. This deters the guy who wants to fuck me. I just shrug at him. I don’t know what else to do, but I know that I don’t want to go anywhere with him.

The girls’ eyes grow wide when I pass by our table with him. “Who’s that?” Teagan mouths.

“My boss,” I mouth in return, but unfortunately, my voice doesn’t wish to remain silent.

He chuckles and leads me to the bar as Teagan gives me thumbs up. She’s insane. He then orders two Irish Car Bombs, and I look at him incredulously.

“You can’t be serious,” I say.

“You’re fine,” he replies. “For now.” His grin widens.

I lean against the bar and face him. “Are you trying to get me drunker?”

He laughs and then shrugs. “I just want to do a shot with you,” he says. “We’ve never done a shot together.”

“I believe the Maker’s Mark could count as a shot.” My right brow goes up as I eye the beautiful man, who is much more beautiful when I’ve had a bah-jillion drinks in me. “Who are you here with?”

“No one,” he says with a shake of his head. His hair moves gently against his shoulders, and he’s wearing a shiny black shirt, opened about halfway down his chest. I lick my lips because my tongue just wants to play all over that.

Oh God, I’m drunk. The dangerous flirtation is about to go code orange. “Why aren’t you at the club?”

He looks down at me, and smiles. “I get to have a night off now and then, too, Nemy-girl.”

“So what are you doing down here?” I ask, because it’s just too weird to be a coincidence.

He nods toward the bar next-door and says, “My friend owns that place. I go in and visit him from time to time.” Then he leans over. “Sorry if I fucked with you, but I just couldn’t resist.” His freakin’ eye twinkles. “You’re cute when you’re pissed.” I surprisingly don’t roll my eyes this time, but instead I give him a shy smile. This really gets his attention. “What’s that, Nemy-girl?”

“What?” I ask, denying what he’s thinking. I really want to kiss him again, but don’t know if that’s the best idea in the world since I work for the man.

His eyebrows rise into his forehead. “I think somebody likes me.”

“Shut the fuck up,” I say and grab the drinks while he throws a twenty at the bartender. He laughs as I raise the Guinness and Bailey’s shot.

“Hold up,” he says and takes his glasses in hand. “Bet first?”

“On what?” I ask.

“Who can finish first,” he suggests. “Obviously.”

I let out a short laugh. “You do realize I’m a bartender, right?”

“And I own a bar,” he replies. “Should make this interesting.”

“Okay, what’s the bet?” I ask, and quickly add, “And don’t say anything about stripping.”

His nose crinkles in a mock growl, and finally, he concedes with a shrug. “How about a kiss then?”

I smirk. “You’ve already kissed me.”

“Yeah, but I want a much longer one,” he informs.

I draw in a breath through my lips like a backwards whistle, and then close my mouth. Oh, the possibilities of what could happen with that long kiss. My tongue moves back and forth inside my mouth while I think about it, the surgical steel bar clicking against my teeth.

“You’re taking too long,” he says. “A kiss, it is.” I open my mouth to protest, but he stops me. “Nope, too late.”

“How is that even a good bet?” I ask. “Either way, we kiss each other.”

He shakes his head. “No, if I win, you kiss me, however you like, even if it’s just a peck on the cheek. If you win, I kiss you, however I like. There’s a difference. Unless, of course, you’d like to revert back to the stripping thing.”

My laughter leaves my lips in a hurry, giving it an almost nervous quality. I shake my head quickly. “Nope, I only strip—”

“—in the bedroom, I know,” he finishes. “And that’s just fine by me.” He winks.

Oh. My. God. He’s totally hitting on me. He wasn’t like this earlier today. What the fuck? My eyes flick to the left to find my friends all gawking at us. I can’t give them any kind of facial expressions because he will see it. Fuck. They seem to figure out my predicament and Alanna and Teagan are both nodding with smiles across their faces in expressions that say, “Do it!” Of course, they can’t hear what we are talking about, but they are well aware of his little bets.

He peers over his shoulder and they immediately stop. He chuckles. “Your friends are all for it. Come on, bottoms up.” He drops the shot into his beer, and I quickly do the same. The glasses go up and I can hear the girls hitting the table in rhythmic vibrations in their excitement. Guinness is a thick beer, so it’s not easy to chug, but I manage to get it all down in a short amount of time and set the glass on the bar. The shot glass clinks against the pint glass and I hear it a second time while wiping my mouth, and this is where I discover that I’ve won. Wait a minute, what’s the bet?

Holy fucking shit. He’s going to kiss me.

He doesn’t miss a beat. He sweeps me up in his arms and plants a hard one on me that sends my mind reeling when his tongue slips past my lips. I can hear the girls whoop and holler, but very soon, all sound disappears until it’s just him and me. My hands slide up into his hair as his lips work against mine, and he presses me against the bar and bends me over it backwards a little. His hand glides up my left ribcage, underneath the barely-there top, and his thumb moves in gentle motions, massaging my skin. Lips pull back with a bite on my lower lip, and he smiles with that evil glint in his eyes while taking a step back.

His hand glides to my face and his thumb softly caresses my cheek. “Have a good night, Nemy-girl,” he says and walks away. I can do nothing but stare after the man as he leaves the bar.

“Mother fucker,” I whisper while I brace myself against the bar for support. I don’t trust my legs at this point. Teagan and Alanna run over to me.

“Oh my God,” Teagan shouts as she grabs my arms. “That was your boss? He’s fucking hot!”

I just nod, still dazed by the whole event.

Alanna laughs. “Look at her! Holy shit!” She slaps my face lightly. “Wake up, chica!” My eyes flick to hers in a rapid flutter of eyelids. “Wow, I’ve never seen you like this.”

I shake my head and finally reach up to slap my forehead. “What the hell?”

Lillian strolls over with Echo, Katy and Jada. “Hell, any man who can do that to you is worth a fucking try,” Lillian says.

I shake my head again. “He’s my boss.”

“I don’t think he cares,” says Echo with a grin, and Katy giggles.

“Shut up, both of you,” I say.

1/4 oz Jack Daniel's Whiskey
1/4 oz Crown Royal Whiskey
1/2 oz Bacardi CoCo Rum
1/2 oz Amaretto
1 splash grenadine syrup
5 oz Pineapple juice

Fill glass with ice. Put in the order of Jack, Crown, Amaretto, and Bacardi. Fill with the pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine. Stir & enjoy!

I'm venting, but it would be really nice to have at least one day off that is the same every week.

It still seems like one rapid dip into Hell, and one doesn’t throw their arms up on this ride; it may result in the loss of limbs, or concussions, for that matter.

Most people call me Nemy, mainly because I hate my real name. I got the nickname because I was born on Friday the 13^th and because I'm a fighter, and I’m certain there was a full moon that night, too, which would explain my need to shed my human skin and go full mega-bitch on people at times, aside from the fact that I am a bitch. It’s pretty much because of men. I hate them at this point. Their whiny-ass, lame-ass excuses for everything under the sun. Their pretending to still be involved while they try to find a way out, no matter how much you love them, or how much you’ve done for them; they don’t see it. They tell you that you need counseling. HA! I know just how broken I am, thank you, and I’m fine with that. I also know how to fix it, which entails getting rid of them. Two men. One treated me like his own personal mental punching bag, the other tossed me to the curb like a cigarette, with a nice little flick of “fuck you” thrown in before I hit. Seven years with one; eight with the other. That’s almost half my lifetime, or almost a third of it. Either way, it’s a lot of time wasted on them. Well, no, maybe wasted isn’t correct. I’ve learned valuable lessons, that’s for sure. If I didn’t think women would do the same, I’d switch sides, but they do it, too. I’ve witnessed it through friends. People grow apart. It’s human nature, I suppose; but really, the daunting task is to find that one person who shares the same interests… throughout your lifetime. I thought I had that, though. I’m certain several women out there thought the same thing. Maybe men, too. Who the fuck knows?

The last one moved to Colorado. We decided on it together. I was supposed to go with him, but things drastically changed within a very short amount of time. My instinct tried to warn me, but we women never listen to our gut when we’re in love. Not fly-by-night love, or new-relationship love. Seven years of unconditional love with an engagement ring on my damn finger. So much for unconditional. I still wear the ring, only for the fact that it keeps most men away from me. It’s my excuse for getting out of dates when they see me dressed in a leather bustier and low-rise jeans, looking like something reminiscent of a Bettie Page poster. Yeah, I know what men like. I’ve actually received a tip for “looking so good in clothes.” Men are strange creatures.

Me, I’m a writer, which means I also have to work for a living. It’s a fairly solitary life, unless one can find someone who gets the fact that a writer spends a good portion of their off time writing. That’s hard to find, and I’ve gone through two now in fifteen years. It causes some strange form of insecurity within those who don’t share the passion. I don’t have that much more time to waste on men like that. I suppose hate is a strong word, though, so it’s more like I dislike them.

I’m a bartender at a strip club. Laugh all you want, a girl doesn’t have to take off her clothes to make bank. I’m pretty sure the owner makes bank, too, but that kind of shit doesn’t matter to me. I’m not a gold digger like some women I’ve met. The neurotic strippers I work with crack me up, though, thinking they can find Prince Charming working at a place like this. I await the day Prince Charming walks up to me, because I’m going to punch that fucker dead in the face. If he sticks around after that, he’s a keeper.

Mix the vodka and kahlua together, then float the cream on top. Add ice if desired (I always do)
